To God Be the GloryPublished on: 2007-06-11
Our team from Eastern Hills, way up in Western New York, had the awesome privilege of serving the people of Gulfport, MS.  A special thanks to Ken, Kristi & Dave of Impact who arranged our work & prayed for us since the day we made the decision to go.  Thanks too to Shawn at Cross Point Church & Pastor Israel for taking such good care of our group.  We will continue to keep Dale in our prayers & ask for periodic updates on how he's doing.  With ALL our efforts, none of this could have been accomplished without the Hand of our Father.  May He be praised for His abundance of love & mercy on us all.
Update Gulfport - 6/7/2007Published on: 2007-06-07
Date line Gulfport, MS... YEP it's warm here... VERY warm! This morning the
team unloaded 4 trailer loads of sheetrock helping our friends at God's
Katrina Kitchen to rebuild a ladies house. We all met back at the kitchen for
lunch and now they are off to the beach to enjoy the sun and surf, a very well
deserved afternoon of fun and relaxation! Have I mentioned how hard these
folks have worked here this week... I will say it again GLORY... this
team "GOTTER DONE"!!!

Dinner tonight with our friends here at Cross Point and then... we probably
ought to raid the DAIRY QUEEN just one more time! Tomorrow will be a sad day
for me... yes I'm anxious to get home to my family but I am going to miss my
friends from Eastern Hills as they pack up and leave to return to their homes
in New York. They have been an absolute blessing to me and everyone they came
in contact with this week!

I want to thank their families and everyone back in New York for your
support of their ministry to the people on the gulf coast. Much has been done
yet there is still so much to do!

Please keep us all in your prayers friday as we begin our journey all. Thanks
for all the prayers throughout the week we could feel it!

Gulfport Update - June 6, 2007Published on: 2007-06-06

It's wednesday morning and yes it is still warm here in Gulfport. As the team is leaving to the job site I will try to describe the past 24 hours...! After a great breakfast and devotions we all headed to Mr. Dale's house, after the group introduced themselves Dale shared his story with them. Everyone was touched, there wasn't a dry eye to be seen. As I had mentioned Dale built this house himself, from drawing the plans right through to completion and over 30
years had filled it with memories of his life and his family. Now it sat as it has since Katrina ravaged it some 20 months ago.

Well that was all about to change, after a group prayer the team heaved to and began the reclamation of Mr. Dale's house! It was not a small task that lay before them... but with awesome attitudes and smiles they waded into their
work. They were amazing to watch and in no time they filled a semi-trailer with debris and were ready for a new one!

Dale treated us to lunch at his small country resturant "Southern Traditions"  the food was excellent and the fellowship even better. The folks there just  loved on the team and thanked them for helping with the house. After lunch the
Eastern Hills bunch were hard at it again and I mean hard it! They accomplished sooo much and enjoyed themselves in the process, later they would comment how they could'nt believe how much they had done and giving God the
glory for it... GLORY!!!

Sean was so excited by the progress that he prepared a special dinner for us.  We had grilled pork chops, potatoes and vegetables... thank you Sean! After dinner we talked about the day and shared thoughts... and God moments. Later
we departed to the local DAIRY QUEEN for some ice cream blessings!!!

The group is back at Mr. Dale's this morning and their goal is to finish  gutting the house so it will be ready for the next phase when they leave.  These folks are special and it has been my joy and blessing to watch them as  they serve God's children here in Gulfport and also to see how their  experience is working in them. What a pleasure!!!

Gulfport Update - June 4, 2007Published on: 2007-06-04
Greetings from Gulfport!

It's Monday afternoon here and overcast but still WARM!

The team from Eastern Hills Church near Buffalo N. Y. arrived in the early
morning hours of Sunday got settled in and after a brief nap we all had church
here at Cross Point. The service was most excellent good praise and worship
followed by a great message from Pastor Isreal. He started with Self
sufficiency leads to destruction, but dependence on God leads to life" can I
getta amen! Then he read Proverbs 3:5-6 and I said glory that is Dave's
favorite verse, and finished by telling the story of Samson it was just
goooood stuff! The rest of the day spent sight seeing and resting up from
their long 22 hour drive.

Monday morning we had devotions and then headed off to God's Katrina Kitchen
for breakfast and some work assignments. Monday's on a project are usually a
little hectic and this was no acception but all were patient even when I got
lost on the way to Pass Christian. Hee Hee! The gals are helping do a VBS
there for Pastor Jeremy and his wife Jessica, I bet there were over 60 kids it
was a wonderful sight to see. The fellas are working at the kitchen doing some
much needed organizing of supplies and materials.

Sean who is the camp director here at Cross Point took to see a house that
desrerately needs work, it has not been touched since the storm! It belongs to
an elderly man named Dale. We visited with Dale for a while and he shared that
he had built the house himself. Once a beautiful L shaped ranch was devastated
by the storm. We are going to begin the process of gutting the house pulling
carpet etc.. Dale is one of those people that did'nt qualify for help (figure
that out and let me know) and heard alot of we'll be out to help to no avail.
Till Cross Point church was contacted just days ago, can I get a Glory!

We will enjoy our dinner here prepared by Chef Sean followed by devotions and
God moments, I can't wait to hear the stories and the I think we'll need to go
to DAIRY QUEEN for dessert. Thanks for all your prayers and support we can
feel it! I'll be talking to ya again soon.

                                               Peace, Ken
